3 Why should you develop an Open course?

You might decide that an Open course is an effective way for your learners to interact with learners from other parts of the world. This can be particularly rewarding for topics where diverse perspectives and viewpoints will contribute to learners’ understanding.

Equally, you may want the learning experience to be available throughout the world, helping to promote your discipline or share your insights into a specific topic. This can enable you to identify opportunities for connection, exchange and collaboration. Open courses can be a great way to showcase study opportunities, encouraging learners to apply to study at your institution.

Open courses can also form part of an elective offering, providing a mix of non-credit-bearing courses and learning experiences that could ultimately lead to credit and formal qualification.
