37 Announcing your Jam

After agreeing the basics of the Jam, you should promote it using the University’s communication channels and via social media.

You may find use of the following communication channels to be useful if you are offering your Jam to students and staff:

  • Staff e-news.
  • Student newsletter.
  • Leeds Educator Space (LES).
  • Student Education bulletin.
  • Digital Education Network (DEN).
  • Schools and Faculties.
  • Professional Services.
  • Knowledge Equity Network (KEN).
  • Personal contacts.

If applicable, check how your funders can help promote your event through their channels too.

Refer to Appendix 5: Jam announcements, registration and preparation for the draft example announcement from the Social Justice Jam: Spaces for Change event in June 2024. There you will also find:

  • the registration form,
  • ideas for social media messaging,
  • a welcome message to use after registration and before the event begins.

Please ensure you read your institution’s Social Media Guidance in advance. It’s important to create messages that are in line with its policies.
