61 Appendix 5: Jam announcements, registration and preparation
External announcement: Invitation to register – Social Justice Jam: Spaces for Change
Organised in collaboration with Institution 2 and in partnership with Community Organisation 1, a community-based organisation in Location 1, this cross-cultural event aims to find solutions to real-world social justice challenges for two communities.
The event will run virtually from 10-12 June 2024, and focuses on specific challenges related to community space access and management. Participants are invited to co-create solutions that will enable members of both communities to benefit from learning, growth and connectivity.
<Hyperlink: Register to attend>
How will it work?
Both communities will present the current social justice challenges they face. These will be provided in the form of a scenario that participants are invited to discuss, explore and propose potential solutions.
Participants then have the chance to share their views and exchange ideas that may form solutions to the communities’ challenges. You will have an opportunity to work in small groups, engage in interactive sessions and learn independently.
We aim to create diverse groups to enable an engaging, active learning experience. A limited number of group places are available. As such, we will add you to the waiting list if groups are full at the time of your registration.
Learning in a group requires your full attention. This will enable you to actively engage, contribute to the group tasks and produce strong outputs within your group.
Who is this event for?
The Jam offers you the opportunity to think creatively, co-design solutions, and build local and global connections. This is true regardless of if you are a student or member of staff from Institution 1 or Institution 2, or a community member from Location 1 or Location 2.
You will receive official certification of your participation, co-signed by Institution 1 and Institution 2.

Dear all,
It’s almost time for the Jam to begin. By now, you should have access to the Teams space where we will meet for the live sessions, self-paced learning and group activities throughout the three days of the event.
We have been working on putting together an exciting programme. We will be exploring and learning together with many inspirational speakers and contributors from Location 1, Location 2 and our two communities.
Please access the Teams space for the Jam and familiarise yourself with the programme. Say hello to the team and your fellow participants. Remember to explore the Jam handbook. There you will find the scenario we will use during the Jam.
We are very much looking forward to your contributions. Why not begin by introducing yourself and engaging in the photowalk activity? You can find details in the Teams channels for this event.
You can access all live sessions via the dedicated Teams channels for each day. There you will find information about each session – all you need to do is select ‘Join’.
The Social Justice Jam will create opportunities to learn with others in a diverse community, and build local and global connections.
