25 Collaboration
Throughout the lifespan of the DDG, students have contributed and collaborated with staff to develop thoughts and ideas. As a result, we have continued to revise, refine and inform our plans to further develop the blueprints for Open, Block and Jam, along with the associated prototypes.
In addition, we have consulted with other students outside the DDG who have participated in a range of consultative activities. Established student networks and local contacts such as the Student Sustainability Architect programme have been a key enabler in this.
Students have actively participated in Discovery activities, including co-designing and co-facilitating prototype courses that have contributed to the creation of these blueprints. They have also provided feedback on the Broadening initiative via governance forums. Students were recompensed with vouchers for their participation in these activities (in agreement with the institution).
Our community partners have been instrumental in the co-design, co-delivery and co-evaluation of the Jam and include academic staff and students from the University of Pretoria and our two community partners LS14trust and Mothong African Heritage.
