27 Jam

Jams are fast-paced, cross-disciplinary events that bring together diverse individuals and groups. These intense learning opportunities focus on a specific challenge or project and are designed to create rapid outputs.

Jams include a topic that is relevant and attractive to a wide-ranging learning population. To facilitate the use of these events, the DDG developed a pathway to design enquiry-based learning over a period of one day or a few days.

You may consider planning a Jam as a physical event at a specific location. Depending on your aims, this may work best on campus or online, or at another location that maximises engagement.

You might also choose to consider specific features of the Jam more widely in your current programmes and modules. This can help you create integrated opportunities for open, connected and cross-disciplinary learning that stretches beyond a module or programme. By doing this, you can further diversify the students’ learning experiences and enhance your teaching approaches.
