1 Using this handbook
Dear reader,
This handbook was used to support learning during the Social Justice Jam: Spaces for Change online event (“the Jam”) in June 2024.
The following material aimed to help the learners navigate the Jam.
Learner-facing resources:
Dear learner,
Section 1: The scenario guides your individual and collective inquiry, helping you develop your understanding about the challenges faced by the two collaborating communities. Through your own inquiry, you’ll make suggestions towards resolving some of these challenges.
In Section 2: The FISH model for inquiry you will familiarise yourself with a model for learning on your own or with others. This will provide a useful scaffold for your inquiry around the scenario during the Jam.
Within Section 3: Reflect ‘n’ learn you will explore reflection approaches and how you can use these as part of the learning process. You’ll also consider creative ways to reflect using a variety of media.
Section 4: Making groupwork work will equip you with the skills to make learning with others in a group a rich and valuable experience for all participants.
In the final section of this handbook, we invite you to review the additional material provided in Section 5: Further resources.
Feel free to explore the sections of this handbook in whatever way works best for you, focusing on what you find most valuable and useful.
